Llanbryn's Sir Opie RN
Opie was my first Cardigan, whom I got in 1999 from Barbara Brown. I originally wanted to do obedience with him, but he is so stubborn I gave up after a few failed attempts of Novice A. He always thought it was more fun to visit his neighbors during the sit stay (he never even made it to the down stay) than to obey me, so I started doing Junior Showmanship with him instead and really enjoyed it. When kept on a leash he was very obedient, and I earned my three novice wins with him. I became so enthralled with the conformation aspect of dog shows I decided to get a show quality Cardigan, and the rest is history. Opie did finally earn a title when rally became an event, since the novice level is all on lead. He got his first two qualifying legs at the Nationals in 2006, earning placements both days, and got his third leg at the CWCCWR specialty the same year.
